SUMMARY:STREET AND PRISON GANG DYNAMICS: HISTORY\, INTELLIGENCE\, MODERN ENFORCEMENT (8 HOURS)
DESCRIPTION:This course provides law enforcement\, correctional personnel\, school safety officials\, probation officers\, and public safety professionals with a comprehensive understanding of the evolution\, structure\, and operational behavior of modern street and prison gangs. The training examines how gang culture has evolved from traditional neighborhood-based organizations into sophisticated criminal networks operating both inside correctional institutions and throughout local communities. \nAttendees will explore the historical origins of major gang rivalries and examine how these conflicts continue to influence violence\, recruitment\, criminal activity\, and inmate behavior in present-day correctional facilities and on the streets. The course will identify current gang trends\, emerging criminal alliances\, and the growing influence of institutional gangs within jails\, prisons\, juvenile halls\, schools\, group homes\, pre-release programs\, and community environments. \nInstruction will focus on how gang-affiliated individuals function within institutional settings and how gang behavior impacts supervision\, housing\, classification\, discipline\, officer safety\, intelligence gathering\, and group dynamics. Students will gain practical insight into recognizing gang indicators\, identifying behavioral patterns\, understanding hierarchy and influence\, and managing encounters with gang-affiliated individuals more effectively and professionally. \n\nAdditional topics include: \n* Historical development of street and prison gangs\n* Current gang rivalries and emerging trends\n* Institutional gang structure and influence\n* Gang culture\, codes\, symbols\, and communication\n* Officer and staff safety considerations\n* Gang behavior in schools\, juvenile facilities\, and community settings\n* Effective strategies for gang member contacts and supervision\n* Intelligence gathering and threat recognition\n* Violence prevention and operational awareness \n\nThis course combines real-world experience\, historical analysis\, current intelligence trends\, and practical application to provide attendees with a modern understanding of gang operations and the challenges facing today’s public safety professionals. SUMMARY:RECOGNIZING THE PRE-INCIDENT INDICATORS AND TACTICS\, TECHNIQUES AND PROCEDURES OF TERRORIST GROUPS IN THE U.S. (8 HOURS)
DESCRIPTION:This class focuses on current Pre-Incident Indicators (PII’s) and Tactics\, Techniques\, and Procedures (TTP’s) associated with extremists operating inside the Homeland. \nRadicalized and indoctrinated Americans\, as well as extremist operatives from groups such as the Islamic State\, HAMAS\, Hezbollah\, and Al-Qaida\, may exhibit specific PII’s during the Extremist Attack Planning Cycle (“Left of Bang”) and utilize identified TTP’s during activities in the U.S. Enhanced understanding and recognition of these PII’s and TTP’s can assist police\, military personnel\, first responders\, and private sector professionals in identifying\, reporting\, and responding to suspicious activities in support of Homeland security.

SUMMARY:C.A.T.C.H. – COUNTERING ACTIVE TERRORIST CELLS IN THE HOMELAN (8 HOURS)
DESCRIPTION:Countering Active Terrorist Cells in the Homeland (CATCH) is a unique training course that seeks to provide an all-encompassing approach to the current threat of Terrorism and Homegrown Violent Extremism (HVE) inside the U.S. This training course provides a “broad brush” overview of the topics that follow (the training courses that are listed after this course should be viewed as “deep dives” into those specific subjects – while this course provides a general “wave tops” view of the issues). We will outline the foundational factors that contribute to HVE and the radicalization and recruitment of Americans\, including an objective overview of Islam and cultural issues. An understanding of the three main pillars of the Islamic State\, Al-Qaida\, HAMAS\, and Hezbollah (the four foreign terrorist groups that represent the most significant threats to the Homeland)—radical ideology\, extremist doctrine\, and strategic messaging—will be provided. How extremist groups use social media and cyber hacking to achieve their goals will also be covered. New threat vectors\, such as the increased targeting of police and military personnel\, will be discussed\, along with recent terrorist tactics\, techniques\, and procedures. \nA unique\, singular analysis of extremist group operational manuals will be presented as a means to illuminate observable pre-incident indicators that are consistently present in the timeline leading up to a terrorist attack. The course concludes with a discussion of potential counter-terrorism strategies and the challenges that lie ahead.
